Archie M. Saunders

Archie M. Saunders, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. Archie was born on March 10, 1943 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late William Lester and Mary E. Strait Saunders.

Archie retired from GDC after 30 years of service and was also a farmer. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, racing, and playing cards. Archie was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School, Class of 1961.

He was married to Paulette M. Nibert Saunders on March 17, 1984, and she survives him in Gallipolis. Archie is also survived by one daughter, Leslie Ann (Roger) Maiberger of Columbus, Ohio; three sons, Jonny Saunders of Columbus, Todd (Andrea) Saunders of Denver, Colorado, and Tad Saunders of Gallipolis, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Saunders of Gallipolis, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Smith and Audree Ann Saunders; and by one brother, William Saunders.

Calling hours for Archie will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Willis Funeral Home. A private family burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
