Barbara J. Hayes

Barbara J. Hayes, 93, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Holzer Assisted Living.

Born on September 15, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio, Barbara was the daughter of the late John R. Chapman and Frances Brooks Wise. Barbara married Francis "Jay" Hayes, who preceded her in death on December 9, 2011. Barbara graduated from North High School and attended St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski, Ohio. She was an avid reader who enjoyed puzzles and word searches.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Joey (Michael) Miller of Gallipolis, Ohio; son, Michael J. (C. Chad) Hayes-Elkins of Logan, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Justin (Lindsey) Miller of Gallipolis, Christopher (Ashley) Miller of Gallipolis, and Brittany ("Bubba") Spencer of Gallipolis; six great-grandchildren, Riggs Miller, Reece Miller, Hudson Miller, Landon Miller, Waylon Spencer, and Wrenly Spencer; sisters-in-law, Marilyn West of Zaleski, Ohio and Kate (Ron) Molihan of Zaleski, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Barbara will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St. Sylvester Church with Father Thomas Herge officiating. Burial will follow in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery in Zaleski, Ohio. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, as well as from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Pallbearers will be Chris Miller, Justin Miller, Bubba Spencer, and Michael Miller; honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bartoe and Jack Bartoe.
