Beverly Lynn Chapman

January 21, 1953 — September 10, 2025

Gallipolis

On September 10, 2025, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Beverly Lynn Chapman, 72, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father.. Beverly passed unexpectedly in her home. Beverly lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible.

Beverly Chapman was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God’s plan. Beverly was a member of Northup Missionary Baptist Church for over forty years, serving alongside her husband, Pastor James Chapman.

Beverly was the daughter of the late Langley and Margaret Johnson. Her late siblings include Larry Johnson, Langley Johnson Jr., Truman Johnson, Denver Johnson, Audrey Johnson, and Ann Pack-Mills. Surviving siblings include Rome (Lois) Johnson of Arizona, Carl (Wanda) Johnson of Arkansas, and many loving nieces and nephews.

As a teacher of forty-eight years, Beverly received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rio Grande, and her Master’s through courses from both Marshall University and Ohio University. Beverly’s career brought her to Point Pleasant High School, Buckeye Hills Career Center, and numerous substitute positions.

As a mother, Beverly raised her daughter Tammy in the ways of the Lord, teaching her to love, to serve, and to trust in Him always. She found comfort in verses such as Proverbs 3:5-6 —“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Beverly now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Pastor James C. Chapman, her daughter, Tammy Lynn (William) Church, grandson Nathan (Kimberly) Stevens, granddaughter Tori (Tanner) Sipes, and her future great-granddaughter, Rory Stevens, who will carry on her legacy of faith and love. Beverly was preceded in death by three sons, Roy Lee Chapman, James Allen Chapman, James Cooper Chapman, and grandson T.J. Stevens. While we grieve Beverly’s passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.

A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at Willis Funeral Home on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Willis Funeral Home on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by her nephews, Pastors Donnie Johnson, Truman Johnson, and Robert Pack. Family and friends will gather to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life with preaching, singing, and shared memories by those in attendance.

Beverly will be laid to rest beside her three infant sons at Victory Baptist Cemetery at 1069 Victory Road, Crown City, Ohio 45623. Entrusted pallbearers are Craig Chapman, Matt Chapman, Ronnie Pack, Roger Pack, Tanner Sipes, and grandson Nathan Stevens.

In lieu of flowers, Beverly requested donations be made to the Northup Missionary Baptist Church Youth Group, mailing address 1335 Lincoln Pike, Patriot, Ohio 45658.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
