Billy E. Lakin, 84, of Gallipolis, went home to be with the Lord on Friday February 20, 2015 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Pt. Pleasant, WV surrounded by his family. He was born on April 1, 1930 in Wayne County, WV son of the late Edgar and Lutie Perdue Lakin. He was a member of Northup Baptist Church, an U.S. Army Veteran, and retired from Kaiser Aluminum. He enjoyed farming and wood-working and made several pieces of furniture. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School. Billy was married to Rosalie Price on May 18, 1955 and she survives him along with three daughters and one son. Minda (Kevin) Walker of Thurman, Sandy (John) Swisher of South Webster, Jill Lakin of Gallipolis, and Terry (Sheilah) Lakin of Bidwell; 7 grandchildren Kendra (Josh) Bodimer of Gallipolis, Aaron (Cassie) Walker of Gallipolis, Emily (Seth) Forgey of Thurman, Erica (Stefan) Kempf of Washington Court House, Kate (Kirby) Claxon of South Webster, Jared (Camilee) Tieman of Ashland, KY, and Kathleen (Nathan) Reynolds of Gallipolis, 9 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way, a twin sister Betty Davis of Sarasota, Fl. He was preceded in death by a sister Fern Robinson and by an infant sister, Arlene. Services will be 11 am on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. There will be military services at the cemetery by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
