Carlos Edward Swisher, 74, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 13, 2014. Carlos passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by the love of his family by his side. He was born October 26, 1940 in Cheshire, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth J. Swisher and the late Alice Mae (Kail) Swisher. Carlos was preceded in death by grandparents, Edmund and Nina (Knopp) Kail, sister: Evelyn K. (Richard) Sisson, brother: Paul F. Swisher, nephew: Paul F. Swisher, Jr., brother-in-law: Richard Sisson, father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Ima Kingery, and brother-in-law: Randy Rothgeb. Carlos is survived by the love of his life and his best friend, wife, Patricia Ann (Kingery) Swisher. Carlos and Pat celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage, September 26th. Their marriage was blessed with two sons who survive: Carlos Shaun (April) Swisher and Shane Edward (Barbie) Swisher. Carlos enjoyed time with his 4 beloved grandchildren: Gabby Helana, Nicholas Shaun, Jakob Damon, and Chelsea Shayne. Also surviving are, brother-in-law, Wedzel Kingery; sister-in-law, Libby Rothgeb (Tim Bailey); brother, Edmund Swisher and sister-in-law, Lou Swisher. Carlos will be missed by several nephews and nieces and a host of many friends. Carlos served in the U.S. Army in Wertheim, Germany from 1966-1968 and he and Pat enjoyed traveling in Europe when duty permitted. Over the years friendships with five couples enjoyed traveling across the country for their Army reunions. Carlos retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 105 out of Piketon, Ohio. He was a member of Siloam Lodge No. 0456 in Cheshire, Ohio. He was a member of American Legion and Amvets. He was also a member of Little Kyger Congregational Church and attended Good News Baptist Church. Carlos grew up on a farm off Little Kyger Road where his family had a dairy and ran a milk route. He graduated from Kyger Creek High School in 1958. He was attending Rio Grande College when he was drafted into the Army. Carlos loved planes and flying and had his student pilot’s license. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved being out in the fields on his tractor. He like going mushroom hunting and cutting loads of firewood with his boys. He was always ready for a Rook card game with family and friends. One of his favorite past-times was going to auctions. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Wedzel Kingery, Todd Rothgeb, Nathan Rothgeb, Terry Rothgeb, Craig Kingery, Michael Swisher, Bruce Lucas and Joey Edwards.
