Carol Jane Curry, 92, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in the early morning hours of September 18, 2025. A longtime resident of Gallipolis Ohio, Carol was born on September 13, 1933, to her mother, Virginia Spear and father, James “Tag” Ball. Carol was raised by her great-great aunt and uncle, Odessa and Ed Myers.
Born with a caring heart and a dedication to serving others, Carol spent her career as a Registered Nurse, touching countless lives with compassion and kindness. Carol graduated from Gallia Academy High School and continued her education at Holzer Nursing School. During her distinguished career as a nurse, Carol worked in many areas including Gallipolis State Institute, Holzer Clinic as a Clinical Nursing Supervisor, and as a Hamilton County Public Nurse in Cincinnati. Outside of her work, she found great joy in cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes football team and spending time surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply.
Carol was preceded in death by her half-brother, Bill Barnett, and her grandson, Kenneth Ryan Curry. Carol is survived by her children, Mike (Eva Leah) Curry and Mark (Becky) Curry; her grandchildren, Kyle (Hannah) Curry, Ashley (Chris) Brown, Josh (Kali) Curry, and Caleb (Allison) Curry; and her great-grandchildren, Bowen Brown, Baker Brown, Case Curry, Jett Curry, Callum Curry, and Colt Curry.
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Home. The Nurse Honor Guard of the Ohio Valley will recognize and honor Carol for dedicating her life to the nursing profession.
Carol will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her lifelong commitment to caring for others, and her spirited love for the Buckeyes.
