Carroll C. Smith, 84, a lifelong resident of Gallipolis Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Holzer Medical Center. Carroll was born on September 29, 1926 in Gallipolis to the late Grover M. and Georgia Craft Smith. He was a 1945 graduate of Gallia Academy High School. Following high school graduation, he joined his father managing the G.M. Smith General Store in Thivener, Ohio. He later worked for Valley Bell Dairy and the Gallia County Welfare Department. He attended Elizabeth Chapel Church and Faith Baptist Church. For nearly sixty years he was married to Marian Bane Smith who preceded him in death on August 24, 2009. Surviving are six children, a daughter, Susan C. (Chris) Evans of Gallipolis; five sons, Stephen L. (Patty) Smith of Gallipolis, Bruce C. (Ruth) Smith of Springfield, Christopher G. Smith of Yeosu, South Korea, Craig G. (Grace) Smith of Pohang, South Korea, and Scott A. ( Donna) Smith of Gallipolis; eight grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Levi Canterbury, Clay Smith, Jenny Smith, Ian Evans, Caroline Evans, Andrea Smith and Reese Smith. Carroll was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Smith, his parents Grover M. and Georgia Craft Smith, three brothers, Franklin Smith, Harold Smith and Charles Smith and a sister Evelyn Smith Boggs. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 21 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Saturday, November 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Cemetery: Mound Hill Cemetery Visitation: Willis Funeral Home, Saturday, November 20, 2010 6-8 p.m. Service: Willis Funeral Home, Sunday, November 21, 2010 2 p.m.
