Carroll E. Taylor, 76, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on December 5, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia, son of the late Harry Ross and Betty Ruth Comstock Taylor, Jr.
After returning from Vietnam in 1970, Carroll met Sarita "Rita" Rossiter; they were married on May 1, 1971 and shared a life together for 54 years. To this loving union, they welcomed two sons, Danny (Lindsay) Taylor and Greg Taylor (Marley Bush), whom he loved and cherished. His sons honored him with the next generation to love and spoil with his four grandchildren, Ashley (Steven) Fryar, Kimberly Taylor (Josh Stephens), Blake Taylor, and Dallas Bryan. Two of the many blessings that Carroll had were his two great grandsons, Mason and Carson Fryar. Carroll retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4464 where he was a member of the Gallia County Honor Guard. He served during Vietnam in the U.S. Army.
Carroll was the oldest of nine children with surviving sisters, Freda Thomas of Circleville, Ohio and Lisa Masters of Gallipolis and surviving brothers, Charles Taylor and Darrell Taylor both of Gallipolis. In addition to his parents, Carroll was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Nida, Karen Wray, and Ruth Taylor; brother, Roger Taylor; brothers-in-law, Denzil Nida and Willard Thomas, Sr.; niece, Tammy Sayers; mother-in-law, Beatrice Rossiter; and many aunts and uncles whom he cherished.
A Celebration of Carroll's Life will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post 4464 on Thursday, July 3, 2025 where a breakfast meal will be served which was his favorite.
