Charles Alfred “CA” Duncan of Northup, Ohio went home to be with his Lord at his residence on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He was born at home in the Crown City area on March 1, 1943, to Howard “Jack” and Mildred Lambert Duncan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Andrew Duncan and daughter-in-law, Roberta Hamilton Duncan. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, April Thompson Duncan; children Paul Duncan, Edie (Mike) Bostic, and Troy (Suzanna) Duncan; grandchildren Tyler (Tiffany) Duncan, Tayler (Evan) Wood, Tori Duncan, Ellie (Aaron) Lee, Katie Bostic, Chad (Lindsey) Bostic, Coen (Sydnee) Duncan, Braiden Duncan, and Gage Duncan; great grandchildren Jackson, Lincoln, McKinley, Hanley, Reagan, Thea, and EJ; brother Phil (Mary) Duncan of Pataskala, OH; sister Allie (Ron) Cowden of Worthington, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
CA graduated from Kyger Creek High School in 1961, participating in sports, FFA, and various extra-curricular activities. He received his cadet teaching certificate and later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1966.
After CA and April married in 1962, they moved to his grandfather’s farm in Northup, Ohio. He taught at Hannan Trace Elementary and High School and later at Green Elementary School. After 10 years of teaching and part-time farming, CA left the classroom to fully pursue his love of farming, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren through supporting them with 4-H and FFA projects and participation in the Gallia County Junior Fair.
CA was a member of Northup Baptist Church. He was always looking for ways to improve the agricultural community in Gallia County. He spent many years serving on several boards: Gallia County Farm Bureau, Gallia County Cattleman’s Association, Gallia County Tobacco Association, Gallia County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Burley Council.
A service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2025, at Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and family.
