Charles Robinson

Charles "Chuck" Robinson 83 years old previously of Gallipolis, Oh passed away at Pickering House Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio on February 21, 2015 after a brief illness. Born on February 3, 1932, the son of Charles "Bobbie" and Janie (Welker) Robinson. Raised in the Bidwell community and graduated at Bidwell Porter High School in 1949. He was member of the varsity basketball team. He served in Germany in the United States Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol (Fowler) Robinson. They are the parents of Janet (John) Lent and Rebecca (Mike) Sagar. Grandparents to Daniel and Timothy Eshelman, Lisa Rader and Cierra Campbell. Great grandparents to Tyler, Ryan, and Sylas Eshelman and Alexandrea Eshelman. He is also survived by his brother Garland Robinson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Cora,Mary and Stella and brother Bradford Robinson. Chuck was a member of The First Families of Gallia County Historical & Genealogical Society. He established at least 15 ancestors who settled here prior to 1820. He was a member of the committee that obtained funding to restore and clean up Raccoon Creek. Chuck worked and retired at Ohio State University Medical Center after 30 years as a Plant Engineer. He was an avid outdoors man and wildlife enthusiast that he shared with his family and friends. He was a member of the Good News Baptist Church. Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Willis Funeral Home, with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bidwell. Friends may call from 1 pm until the time of the service. There will be military rites at the graveside by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
