Clarence E. Johnson

Clarence E. Johnson, 76, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Holzer Medical Center after a short illness. Clarence was born on April 18, 1949, in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Clayton E. and Betty Springer Johnson, Sr.

Clarence is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Terry) Waugh of Gallipolis; like a daughter, Paula (Roger) Schartiger of Gallipolis; three grandchildren, Tyler Mayne, Nathaniel White, and Brandy Johnson; one great grandson, Oliver Phersen; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Brenda Spaulding, and Linda (Clinton) Earl all of Gallipolis; one brother, Lenville (Connie) Johnson of Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Johnson Clary; his former wife, Connie S. Johnson; siblings, Phyllis Buttrick, Everett Johnson, Danny Johnson, Ellen Houck, Norma Johnson, Junior Johnson, and Merrill Johnson; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

The funeral service for Clarence will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Truman Johnson officiating. His burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Addison Township. Visiting hours will be from noon until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Terry Waugh, Darrell Waugh, Nathaniel White, Mike Barcus, Jason Spaulding, and Johnny Spaulding.
