Claude Wayne Hudman

Claude Wayne Hudman, 75, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully on September 17, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. Claude was born on July 29, 1951 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was the son of the late Claude James Hudman and Martha Janice Hudman of Timpson, Texas.

Claude married his soul mate, Angel, on January 7, 1987, in Longview, Texas. They were devoted to each other and were a true picture of their vows “for in sickness and in health.” They loved and supported each other as they worked diligently to blend their families into one.

Claude was a graduate of Timpson High School and then went on to serve in the United States Army, 1971-1973, where he trained and was Airborne qualified with the 101st Airborne Division while serving in Vietnam. He was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran where he earned a purple heart and a bronze star. Claude was a jack-of-all-trades, but spent most of his career as a welder, a trade he passed down to both of his sons.

Claude had many hobbies. While still in Texas, you could find Angel, all the kids, and him riding dirt bikes at the clay pits or in the front yard; it didn't matter what the neighbors thought. He loved his Harley, NASCAR, building cars, dirt track racing, tractor pulls, and participating in the demolition derby. He loved building things, from whole houses to fences, and supervising when he wasn’t able. Claude loved the Lord; he confessed Him as his Lord and Savior and recognized God’s sovereign hand in all things. He loved worship music and the power of prayer, often asking his children, “How can I pray for you?”

Angel and he worked together building their farm in Ohio where they had gardens, animals, and maybe a small junk yard at one point. Claude utilized the barter system well beyond its prime, which always baffled his children but resulted in his favor every time. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Bear and Shadow, whom he lovingly considered his favorite kids.

Claude is survived by his wife Angel Hudman of Gallipolis, Ohio; children, Christopher Wayne Hudman and wife Stacey of Liberty City, TX, Amy Hawley and husband James of Liberty City, TX, Stephanie Killingsworth and husband David of Palmer, AK, Matthew Wayne Hudman and wife Hannah of Liberty City, TX, Rachel Haas-Hudman of Canton, TX, Emily Hudman of Nome, AK, and Bear and Shadow; sibling, Julie Amos and husband Dan of Trophy Club, TX; grandchildren, Kalynn, Trent and wife Molly, Ethan, Bailey, Dani, Chase, Riley, Jagger, Chesney, Natalie, Taylor, Koda, Elliana, Carter, Olivia, Orrin, and Anna; and two on the way, grandchild, Magnolia Grace and his first great-grandchild, Christopher Rhett.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vietnam Veterans Association of America. Arrangements for a Celebration of Life are currently being finalized by family and will be shared soon.
