Curtis W. Myer

Curtis W. “Skeet” Myer, 97, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2005 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born on February 6, 1908 in Athens County, Ohio to the late Ellsworth and Louie Spencer Myer. He was married to Velma Lorraine Payton on March 29, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a superintendent of bridge construction. He was a member of Good News Baptist Church, Columbus Shriners, and a 60 year member of the 32nd Degree Masonic Lodge in Plainfield, Ohio. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Surviving are his devoted and loving wife, Velma Lorraine Myer of Gallipolis; two sons, Gene R. Mary Ann Myer of Gallipolis and Gary Shelley McCleese of Lakeview, OR; two daughters, Douglas Judy Kellogg of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Bill Mary Whitelaw of Dublin, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Curtis Amy Myer, Patricia Carl Birt, Jodee Darrin Snider, Connie Brian Barrett, Carrie Ann Netto, Courtney Brian Borradaile, Jamie Suzanne Watters, Christopher Anna Watters, William Whitelaw, Shawn Shawna McCleese; eleven great grandchildren, Karen, Jennifer, Dylan, Joshua, Eric, Morgan, Alexis, Savannah, Emma, Gavin and Aidan; two brothers, George Wanda Myer of Ft. Myers, FL and Rex Myrtle Myer of Pickerington, Ohio; two sisters, Leola Divers of Columbus, Ohio and Catherine Moore of Belpre, Ohio. Preceding him in death are his parents, one son, Jack Myer, four brothers and four sisters. Services will be on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Good News Baptist Church, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Jim Deflippo and Pastor Tom Mollohan officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, December 8, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges.
