Dan R. Lewis

Dan R. Lewis, 96, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Abbyshire Place. Born on May 1, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, Dan was the son of the late Joshua and Olive Ogle Lewis. On June 17, 1948 in Greenup, Kentucky, he married Mary Elizabeth James Lewis, who preceded him in death on October 23, 2015.

After approximately 40 years of service, Dan retired from Jenkins Concrete as a yard foreman. He attended Eureka Methodist Church, where he had previously served for some years as Sunday school superintendent. Dan was also an avid farmer, coon hunter, and later found enjoyment in fishing.

In addition to his wife and parents, Dan was preceded in death by a son, Tom Lewis; a daughter, Dianne Whitley; as well as siblings Ray Lewis, Viola McGuire, and Judith Benavidas. He is survived by two sons, James D. (Nancy) Lewis of Gallipolis and Jon D. (Teresa) Lewis of Crown City; a daughter, Melanie Jill Collins of Patriot, Ohio; a son-in-law, Randy Whitley of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Angela Lewis; grandchildren, Courtney (Scott) Cummons, Tiffany (Charlie) Fourspring, Joshua T. Lewis, Nikolas C. Collins, and Jonathon T. Collins; great grandchildren, Sadie, Rush, Flint, and Charlette; two sisters, Patricia Mason of Gallipolis and Elizabeth Shirk of Springfield; a brother, David (Iva) Lewis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service for Dan will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Junior Preston officiating. Friends and family may be received from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
