David K. “Red Dog” Johnson, 64, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Overbrook Care Center in Middleport, Ohio. David was born on December 18, 1953 in Gallia County, Ohio son of the late Truman Johnson, Sr., and Lola M. Johnson Holley. He was retired from the Gallipolis City Schools and from the Holzer Medical Center. He was involved with coaching in the City of Gallipolis youth sports for over 30 years. David was a life-long G.A.H.S. Blue Devil Fan and was awarded an honorary high school diploma from G.A.H.S. He was a member of Promised Land Church. He is survived by three brothers, Darrell (Connie) Johnson, Donnie (Vonda) Johnson, and Truman (Rosemary) Johnson, Jr. all of Gallipolis; one sister Sharon (Duke) Siders of Gallipolis; his step-father Melvin Jack Holley and several beloved nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Brenda Myers; his grandparents, Margaret Johnson, Langley Johnson, Harry Harper and Delta McCoy. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Willis Funeral Home. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
