David Michael Lucas

David Michael Lucas, 44, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in a tragic accident in South Carolina. David died a HERO after saving his daughter from drowning in the ocean. He was born on October 4, 1981 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of Belinda Johnson Lunsford of Langsville. Ohio and David McCarty Lucas of Gallipolis, Ohio.

David was a graduate of Meigs High School and was employed at Electrocraft as a planner. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family. David is survived by his wife, Ashley Barr Lucas whom he married on September 20, 2025; a son, Ryan M. Lucas of Gallipolis, Ohio; daughter, Christina Lucas of Gallipolis; daughter, Natalie Erit and son, Nathaniel Erit both of Gallipolis; daughter, Elizabeth Blazer of Athens, Ohio; mother, Belinda (Tim) Lunsford of Langsville, Ohio; father, David McCarty Lucas of Gallipolis; sisters, Virginia (Tex) Oliver of Wellston, Ohio, Michelle Shuler of Langsville, Jessica Delaney of Coalton, Ohio, and Bethany Lunsford of Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Margaret Johnson, Viola Bowen, and Michael McCarty Lucas and a brother, Dakota "Cody" Lunsford.

The funeral service for David will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Jeffers officiating. Friends may call prior to the service Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park Cemetery.
