Debra Kay Melrath

Debra Kay Melrath, 59, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on April 25, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1965 in Braxton County, West Virginia, to late Andy and Anna Tanner Greathouse. Debra spent her career as a homemaker.

Debra is survived by her husband, George Cason; daughter, Misty Nelson; son, Tyler (Samantha) Melrath; grandchildren, Sarah Jane Singleton, Leland Nelson, and Calliope Nelson; sister, Kate Gross; brother, Kenneth Greathouse; and niece, Mindy (Austin) Dovenbarger.

In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by a son, Alan Jr. and a brother, Cama Greathouse.

In accordance with Debra’s wishes, there will be no services.

My soul feels shattered, every piece a scream. The news I got yesterday a bad lucid dream. I was told you are gone, so far away. A waking nightmare that just won't fade. I heard it was peaceful, almost serene. It hit me like a tsunami, instant brain freeze. Today it is thawing. Oh God I feel insane. Constant screaming, searing pain.
