Derek Ray Kirby, 28, of Logan, Ohio, formerly of Pomeroy, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017. He was born February 6, 1989 in Gallipolis, son of Sherman Michael Kirby and Mary Elizabeth Nelson Fowler, who both survive him. Derek was a truck driver/dock worker for TNT Holland Trucking, Columbus, Ohio. He was a 2007 Eastern High School graduate. He loved to fish, enjoyed gaming and was a Green Bay Packer fan. Surviving is a daughter, Peyton Kirby of Coolville; his father, Sherman “Mike” (Elizabeth) Kirby of Gallipolis; his mother, Mary “Buffy” (Ralph) Fowler of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Jaela (Brad) McKibben of Pomeroy; four brothers, Michael (Erica Shong) Kirby of Statesville, NC, Jonathan Fife, Michael (Breanna) Wolford, Seth (Lacey) Wolford, all of Gallipolis; grandparents, Virginia Kirby of Gallipolis, Jim and Sandy Nelson of Pomeroy, Steve and Lana Ferrell of Cookeville, Tennessee. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Will officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
