Doris Jean Halley, 79, of Plain City, Ohio, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at her residence. Born on August 17, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Doris was the daughter of the late Roy and Norma Johnson Hively.
Doris worked for many years as a school bus driver for Gallipolis City Schools before retiring as a diet clerk from Holzer Medical Center. Above all else, Doris loved being a mom. She also enjoyed spending time with her cat, Annie. Doris was married to Roger Halley, who preceded her in death on November 14, 2009.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Holley, as well as two sisters-in-law, Debbie Mason and Debbie Queen. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Judy) Halley of Gallipolis, Ohio; her daughter, Rogenia (Larry) Tobias of Gallipolis, Ohio; two granddaughters, Megan (Kenny) Blazer of Gallipolis, Ohio and MiKayla (Garrett) Jordan of Wellston, Ohio; a sister, Wanda (Bill) Lyman of Columbus, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Tate and Zachariah Tate; and brothers-in-law, Lee (Ruth) Queen of Coolville, Ohio, Jerry (Lisa) Queen of Coolville, Ohio, Larry (Annette) Queen of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Jimmy Queen of Pomeroy, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Roger) Osborn of Marietta, Ohio, Sue (Merideth) Turley of Proctorville, Ohio, and Pam Tatterson of Pomeroy, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Doris will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Thom Mollohan officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Friends and family may be received from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A reception at American Legion Post #27 on McCormick Road will take place after the burial from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
