Dorothy J. Lanier Whittington, 84, of Gallipolis, Ohio went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Four Winds Community, Jackson, Ohio. Dorothy was born on August 27, 1931 in Eureka, Ohio, daughter of the late James and Shirley Johnson Lanier. She was an Evangelist, former Pastor of Fairview CCCU, a homemaker, former Co-Owner of Whittington’s BP, and a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union where she was involved in their nursing home ministry. She continued in this ministry while at Four Winds Community. Dorothy was married to James Paul Whittington on July 30, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter Bailey, and by four brothers, George, James, Donald, and Harold Lanier. She is survived by three daughters, Connie Sue (Wayne) Gee of Bidwell, Cathy June (Jim) Sisson and Judy Lynn (Mike) Eblin both of Gallipolis, Grandchildren, Chris (Kaylee) Parsons, Traci (Chris) Good, Jamie (Amy) Sisson, Charity (Rob) Rausch, Stephen Sisson, David (Chasiti) Eblin, Brian (Jackie) Parsons, Angela Parsons, and Mark Parsons, Great Grandchildren, Mariah, Chelsey, Taylor, CJ, Trinity, Brett, Riley, Reed, James, Matiah, Brian, Rowan, Luke, Cali, Janaya, Silas, Harlequin, Larry, Sophia and Trent, Great Great Grandchildren Aubrey and Steven; two sisters Betty Lozier of South Bloomfield, Ohio and Edith Browning of Colorado, CO. A celebration of the life of Dorothy J. Lanier Whittington will be on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Church of Christ in Christian Union at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Denver McCarty officiating. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends till 4:00 PM. Her burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Dorothy’s Grandsons will be her pallbearers.
