Earl R. Caldwell, 70, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born on April 2, 1947 in Gallia County, son of the late Morton and Elma Daniels Caldwell. He was a truck driver and life-long farmer. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He attended Northup Baptist Church. Earl was married to Nelda Wiseman Caldwell on August 1, 1968 and she survives, along with a son, David (Pam) Caldwell; two daughters, Deanna (David) Carpenter and DeShawn (Chris) Sanders, all of Gallipolis; 8 Grandchildren, Ryleigh, MaKenna, and Jaryn Caldwell, Aaron and Katie Carpenter, Kayla (Jordan) Rife, Brianna and Grant Sanders; Great Grandchildren, Maci Kessler and Owen Carpenter; his siblings, Marion (Carolyn) Caldwell of Gallipolis, Judy (Larry) Hall of St. Cloud, FL, Rita (Tom) Myers of Daytona Beach, FL, Vicki (Wayne) Elliott of Gallipolis, Mike (Martha) Caldwell of Gallipolis, Cindy (Mark) Cremeans of Gallipolis; Brothers-in-Law, Danny Stidham and Ross Fulks; and Sister-in-Law, Shelba Lanning. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Farrell “Sonny” Caldwell, Gilbert Caldwell, sisters Doris Fulks and Phyllis Stidham. Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 19, 2017 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating, burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Willis Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. There will be military services at the graveside by the Gallia County Funeral Detail. Pallbearers will be Aaron Carpenter, Joe Stidham, Timmy Caldwell, Wade Caldwell, Nathan Cremeans, and Gary Caldwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carlos Wood, Scott Caldwell and Bob Drummond.
