Earl Jackson “Jack” Goldie, Jr., 72, of Whitehall, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 7, 2007 at his residence. He was born on August 30, 1934 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, son of the late Earl Jackson Goldie, Sr. and Hazel Yarbar Goldie. Jack married Mary Alice Finley on August 24, 1954 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and she survives him. He was retired from the City of Columbus Water Plant, Dublin Branch and was a 10 year auxiliary policeman for the Whitehall Police Department. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran. Surviving him are his wife, Alice Goldie of Whitehall, Ohio; two sons, Eddy Goldie and Jim Goldie, both of Whitehall, Ohio; a sister, Maggie Ollie Caudill of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Margie Goldie of Winchester, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Goldie and Leonard Goldie and a sister Madge Agee. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jim Warren, Marc Sheets, Jerry Silvers, Brad Bell, and Brian Straight. There will be full military services by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges.
