Edith Kathleen Hughes

Edith "Kathleen" Hughes, 93, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at her residence.

Born on March 19, 1933 in Northup, Ohio, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Charles Ross Northup and Edith Mildred Elliott Northup. In 1951, Kathleen graduated from Gallia Academy High School. Kathleen was employed at the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Milk Market from 1951 to 1955 and from 1967 to 1973. In April 1997, Kathleen retired from Reliance Electric with 24 years of service. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin "Junior" Hughes on January 25, 2014. On January 18, 1953, Junior and Kathleen were married in Derby, Ohio by Reverend L.A. Nihizer.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Marlin Hughes (Mary Hartley), Marcia (Clete) Weigel, Teresa Roach, Kevin (Cynthia) Hughes, and Rhonda (Jim) Andrews; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tirza (Danny) Kay (children, Jealeen and Braycen), Trista (Jeremy Nott (daughter, Makayla), Dr. Nathanael Weigel (children, Lily and Koa), Joseph (Samantha) Weigel (children, Nell, Remi, and Lewis), Philip (Cara) Weigel, Rachel Weigel, Jonmichael (Kaylie) Weigel, Samantha (Kevin) Sickles (sons, Jordan and Liam), and Jason (Jonnie Lee) Hughes (sons, Adler and Kaison); niece, Shari (Scott) Haase; and sisters-in-law, Luella Sanders and Amanda Shoup.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Bennett and grandsons, Jonathan and Michael Weigel.

At Kathleen's requests, there will be no calling hours or service. Willis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
