Edna G. Altizer Johnson

Edna G. Altizer Johnson, 91, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2007 at the Arbors of Gallipolis. She was born on June 5, 1915 in Northup, Ohio, daughter of the late David R. and Etta V. Morgan Altizer. She married Merriman E. Johnson on January 30, 1935. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1985. From that union, one son was born, H. Jackson Johnson born June 15, 1936 and died December 3, 1960. Edna was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Rio Grande. She was employed for many years at the Gallipolis Department Store in women’s wear. Survivors include a grandson, Alan J. Patricia Johnson of Cunningham, TN; a granddaughter, Debra Diana Tim Johnson Amey of Grove, Oklahoma; three great granddaughters, Kristen and Kathleen Johnson, and Beth Amey; two great grandsons, Kevin J. Christina Amey and Zach Amey; two great great granddaughters, Hannah and Grace Amey; two sisters, Garnet Altizer Blazer of Fairborn and Hazel Altizer Rice of Gallipolis; one brother, David M. Etta Altizer of Rio Grande; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil W. Altizer in 1914, Vern E. Altizer in 1970 and Orie R. Altizer in 2004 and one sister, Sadie Altizer Williams in 2005. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
