Edna Estel Barry

Edna Estel Barry, 102, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 16th, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. She passed at her residence at the Arbors of Gallipolis after an extended period in hospice care. She was born in Lincoln County, WV on May 21, 1912. Edna was the daughter of Oscar Franklin Sowards and Mena (Pullin) Sowards. Edna had 2 brothers precede her in death: Elwood Sowards and Woodrow Sowards. She also had 10 half-brothers and sisters, 2 of whom survive. Edna married Oliver Barry on February 9, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1991. Edna loved quilting. Edna is survived by four daughters: Doris (Curtis) Shaffer of Proctorville, Margaret (John) Fulks of Mercerville, Virginia (Morris) Sheets of Gallipolis, and Rita (Archie) Walker of Gallipolis. Survived also by grandchildren, Brenda (Rev. Philip) Chapman, Michael (Tonya) Fulks, Mark Fulks, Barry (Ellen) Sheets, Timothy Brandon Flannery, Adrienne Walker, and Andre Walker; great grandchildren, Curtis Alan and Daniel Christian Chapman, Christopher and Jonathan Fulks, Karli Rae Fulks, Webster, Rutherford, & Grace Sheets, Michaela, James, Sean & Darren Flannery; great-great grandchildren, Cameron, Caiden and Kennedy Fulks, Bentley Cade, Danielle Juliana Chapman. Services will be 12:00 noon, Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
