Flora 'Jiggs' Dailey

Flora “Jiggs” Dailey, 91, of Patriot, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Holzer Assisted Living. She was born September 23, 1921 in Lawrence County, Ohio, daughter of the late James Vincent and Elsie Mae Bradshaw Wilson. She married Judson L. Dailey in Lawrence County on November 27, 1944 and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2007. Flora was a graduate of Rio Grande College. She retired after teaching school for 30 years in the Southwestern School District. She was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. Flora enjoyed watching her students mature. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a Bible Study leader. Flora was an avid Bible student. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Philip Roberts of Patriot; a grandson, Stephen P. (Robin) Roberts of Arlington, Virginia; a sister, Betty Ann (Thomas) McClure of Kitts Hill, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dolly Wilson of Pedro, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lorna Daugherty of Jackson, Ohio. In addition to her parents and her husband Judson L. Dailey, Flora was preceded in death by two brothers Donald Wilson and James Wilson and a sister Evelyn McFann. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Wayne Malone, John Davis, Jeff Davis, Ry Daugherty, Steve Crawford and Eric Baker.
