Francis Allen Waugh, Sr., 86, of Crown City, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Born on September 23, 1939, in Crown City, Ohio, Francis was the son of the late Grover and Ruth Waugh. He proudly served in the United States Army Engineers and later worked as a construction worker for Hi-way Paving, from which he retired in 1999.
On April 24, 1963, he married the love of his life, Sally Sprouse Waugh, and they shared 60 years of marriage before her passing on July 8, 2023.

Francis was a wonderful and devoted father and grandfather who loved his family deeply. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and farming, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his quick wit, and the way he could make others smile even on difficult days. He also took great pride in caring for Kings Chapel Cemetery, a quiet act of devotion that reflected his deep respect for others and his community.

In addition to his wife, Francis was preceded in death by his brothers, Grover Lee Waugh and Paul Waugh; sisters, Edith Stapleton, Ruth Ann Criner, and Kathleen Rose; an infant brother and sister; a brother-in-law, Tommy Cummons; and a special friend, Vern Esposito.

Francis is survived by his sons, Francis “Allen” Waugh, Jr. (Tricia Roush), Wayne (Donna) Waugh, and Tony (Lori) Waugh, all of Crown City; grandchildren, April Queen, Cindy Hatfield, Jarrod Waugh, Sarah Smith, Ashley Warner, Tiffany Marcum, Maria Thompson, Amanda Meadows, Hannah Waugh, Logan Waugh, Rebecca Waugh, Caleb Waugh, and Brock Roush; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Pinkerman and Geraldine Cummons; brothers-in-law, William Stapleton and Joe Rose; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service for Francis will be held at Kings Chapel Church on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with great-grandson Owen Queen officiating. Burial will follow in Kings Chapel Cemetery. Friends and family may be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Landon Felber, Jarrod Waugh, Brandon Smith, David Warner, Austin Marcum, Logan Waugh, Caleb Waugh, and Clay Skeens. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry and Ruth Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holzer Hospice or to Kings Chapel Cemetery.
