Fred J. Taylor, 95, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Holzer Senior Care Center. He was born October 11, 1919 in Cheshire, Ohio, son of the late Fred J. Sr. and Maude Lemley Taylor. Fred was married to Virginia Matthews Taylor on April 5, 1941 in Gallipolis and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2015. He was retired from Beaver Creek Coal Company in Price, Utah in 1982 and a self employed truck driver. Fred was a World War II Army Veteran, from the Office of Strategic Services. He was a member of VFW Post 4464 in Gallipolis, Recreational Square Dance Association and attended Addison Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Robert R. (Barbara) Taylor of Gallipolis; four grandchildren, Rusty Taylor, Lori Clifton, Lisa Gilbert and Jeff Taylor; and two great grandsons, Jakob Gilbert and Bryce Clifton. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded by his siblings, Olen Taylor, the Reverend Paul Taylor, Earl Taylor, Lewis Taylor, Edna Pearl Carsey, Margaret Morehouse and Faye Robie. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Barcus officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. There will be graveside military services by Gallia County Funeral Detail.
