Frederick “Fred” L. Jayne, 83, of Gallipolis, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born September 10, 1934 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, son of the late Lawrence H. and Neta Pfaff Jayne. Fred was married to Shirley J. Paugh on May 29, 1956 in Indiana and she survives him. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He also was a manager of a campground. Fred loved the Pittsburg Steelers and Pirates, and loved golfing. Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. Jayne of Gallipolis; children: Karen S. (Thomas) Wright of Mercerville and Keith A. (Elizabeth) Jayne of Burlington, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Sarah (Heath) Shirley, Glenna (J.D.) Walker, Pamela Jayne and Frederick Jayne; one great granddaughter, Arabella Walker; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Evelyn) Paugh of Mentor Lake, Ohio, Dorcas Moviel of Durham, North Carolina and Nina Paugh of New York. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two sons, David H. Jayne and James L. Jayne, a sister, Betty I. Hoffacker and a brother-in-law, Richard Paugh. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. There will be full military services at the graveside by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
