George Curtis Kerns, 92, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Scenic Hills Care Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born on November 28, 1913 in Pliny, WV to the late Curtis and Bertha Dunn Kerns. George retired from Navistar Truck Company, and was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Church; the Eureka Masonic Lodge # 469 and was a World War II US Navy Veteran. George was married to Elizabeth “Betty” Raygo Kerns on March 29, 1941 in Defiance, Ohio and she survives him in Gallipolis, along with a daughter Patti Steinmetz of Springfield, Ohio and a son Jerry Joyce Kerns, of Mission, Texas; four grandchildren, Lisa Martin of Illinois, Jill Steven Kora of Wisconsin, Jack Lori Kerns of Minnesota, and Becky Steinmetz of Ohio, and nine great grandchildren, special friends Phil and Debbie Fisher of Gallipolis. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Edward Steinmetz; a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Maye and Jim Lemery, and Oliver “Bud” Raygo. Services will be 11 AM Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from 6-9 PM at Willis Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Services Wednesday at 8 PM at the funeral home.
