George Oliver “Bud” Raygo, 85, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Scenic Hills Care Center. He was born on September 29, 1920 in Marinette, Wisconsin to Archie and Edna Pecha Raygo. Bud lived on Shoestring Ridge since 1975; he served as a Deputy Sheriff under Jim Montgomery and also worked as a caretaker at the Gallia County Fair Grounds. He was a World War II US Army Veteran. Before moving to Ohio he worked at Bethlehem Ship Yards in New York. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth “Betty” George Kerns of Gallipolis, a niece Pattie Steinmetz, nephews Jerry Kerns and James Lemery, Jr.; and his special friends Phil and Debbie Fisher and their sons, Travis and Michael Candy Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, Helen Raygo, Mary Raygo, and Concetta M. “Connie” Raygo who preceded him in 1996, and a sister Maye Lemery. Graveside services will be 11 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with Msgr. William Myers officiating. Friends may call from 10 AM on Tuesday until the time of the services. A Flag presentation will be held at the cemetery by volunteers of area veteran lodges.
