Gertrude Louella Devault

Gertrude Louella DeVault, 90, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born November 16, 1924 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Clayton E. Johnson and Lilly Belle Houston Fisher. Gertrude was married to William G. DeVault and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2011. She was a homemaker. At the time of her death, Gertrude was also the oldest living member of Church of Christ in Christian Union. She volunteered at the nursing home church services. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and her Church family. Surviving are her children, Janet (Ken) Schilling of Marietta, Anita (Jeff) Merry and Keith (Linda) DeVault, both of Gallipolis; 12 grandchildren, Jackie (Mike) Ours, Krissy (Rex) Kelly, Julie Merry, Dr. Amy (Shaun Arnold) Schilling, Willie DeVault, Jodi (Andrew) Parsons, Maria (Scott) Sawyer, Alex Schilling, Jamie Merry, Megan (Erik Fabbri) Schilling, Doug and Matthew Blair; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Carroll Johnson, Norma Johnson, Dorothy Johnson, Linda Earl, Brenda Spaulding, Clarence Johnson, Lenville Johnson, Everett Johnson, and Phyllis Buttrick. In addition to her parents and husband, William G. DeVault, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jacob Ours, siblings Christina Queen, Lorena Pickett, Floyd Johnson, Bill Johnson, Ellen Houck, Danny Johnson and Clayton Johnson Jr.. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Herman Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the church from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015. Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
