Gratho Ward, 68, of Vinton, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at his residence. Born June 26, 1950 in Grundy, Virginia, Gratho was the son of the late Raymond and Pearlie Church Ward. He was an over the road truck driver for ATS and a former Bob Evans Sausage Plant employee. Gratho was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping; he was a member of the NRA. Gratho was a veteran of the United States Army who served his country during the Vietnam Era. Gratho is survived by one daughter, Peggy Ward (Roger) Shadwick of Vinton; two grandchildren, Cyndal Shadwick (Brad Smith) of Vinton, and Derrick Shadwick (Amber Phillips) of Vinton; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Christine (Jim) Reynolds of Illinois and Avelene (Jessie) Carroll of Bidwell; brothers, Willie (Julie) Ward of Danville, Ohio, Donald Ward of Gallipolis, Roger Ward of Vinton, and Roscoe (Joyce) Ward of Vinton; several nieces and nephews; friends; and his pet dog, Chancy. A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Pat Henson officiating.
