Hanley L. Gardner

Hanley L. Gardner, 81, of Gallipolis, passed away on June 6, 2007 at Scenic Hills Nursing Center. He was born on August 2, 1925 in Mason County, West Virginia, son of the late George I. and Frances Flint Gardner. He was a retired carpenter for Barr Construction Company. Hanley was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of VFW Post 4464. Surviving are five daughters, Carolyn Donald Carman Sr., Belle Polcyn, Janet Jackson, all of Gallipolis, Shirley Clayton Nagle of Louisville, KY and Peggy Larry Barcus of Gallipolis; twelve grandchildren, Don Jr., Missy, Sandy, Jim, Shane, Debra, Elizabeth, Joanna, Amy, Carrie, Lorrie, and Larry Jr. “BJ”; seventeen great grandchildren; a special friend, Patricia A. Mullins of Gallipolis; a brother, Lawrence Bus Gardner of Nevada, Ohio; three sisters, Hattie Nibert and Sally Kirby, both of Gallipolis and Edna Gray of Newport News, VA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, Bernice Gardner in 1994, a grandson, Austin, two brothers, Raymond and Elmer Gardner, three sisters, Dorothy Gibbs, Della Flory and Rose Sherritt, and three brothers in infancy, William, Ray and Charlie. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Full military graveside services will be conducted by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges.
