Harlis Harold Sheets

Harlis Harold Sheets, age 80, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, of Kettering, Ohio, was called home October 20, 2015. He was born in Gallipolis, Ohio September 6, 1935. Harlis was the son of the late Dallas and Willma Sheets. He was an Army Veteran, construction worker, and he retired from General Motors after 30 years. Harlis enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and spending time with family and friends. When his family first moved to Dayton he became a member of East Dayton Freewill Baptist, then to Cherry Hill Baptist at the end a member of First Baptist Kettering. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Rosemary (Notter) Sheets, brother Henry Sheets and sister Carolyn Scurlock. Harlis is survived by his daughters Mary Diana (Jim) Periman and Dana Lynn (Kenny) Beekman; 6 grandchildren James Harold (Rebecca) Periman, Rachel (Steve) Bugge, Darlis (Josh) Periman, Jennifer (Justin) McVicar, Cecilia Periman, Chad Beekman; 6 great grandchildren Tyler, Bradley Burrey, Chloe Randall, Blake, Avery, Audrey McVicar; 2 sisters June (Lowell) Dusseau, Linda Benson and brother Howard (Rhonda) Sheets. A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 5pm-7pm, as well as 1:30pm-3:00pm on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Willis Funeral Home, 12 Garfield Ave., Gallipolis, Ohio where funeral services will follow at 3:00pm. Burial will take place at Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis, Ohio following the funeral service.
