Harold E. Whitt

Harold E. Whitt, 79, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at University East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 10, 1931 in Gallipolis, son of the late W. Hollis Whitt and Leona M. Roush Whitt Ralph. Harold was a 1949 GAHS graduate and retired from Akzo Chemicals in 1992. He was a Korean Air Force veteran. He was a member of VFW Post 4464, American Legion Post 27, many other veterans organizations, and was active with the Gallia County Funeral Detail. Harold enjoyed traveling. Surviving are his brother, John (Lee) Whitt of Enosburg Falls, Vermont; one sister, Kay (Homer) Hockman of Logan, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Naomi Sis Whitt of Crown City, Ohio; three stepsisters, Vivian (Rich) Curfman of Ray, Ohio, Betty (Ray) Rupe of Winter Park, Florida, Joyce (Cliff) Bryant of Hewitt, Texas; one stepbrother, Kenneth (Sharon) Ralph Jr. of Pickerington, Ohio; four nephews, Rick (Sheri) Whitt, Eddie Whitt, Jim Hockman, Billy Hockman; five nieces, Llada Adams, Treva (David) Caldwell, Becky (Davey) Meaige, Charla (Rick) Whobrey, Dawna Callan; several great and great great nieces and nephews; and a special cousin Eloise Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Kenneth Ralph, brothers Charles L. , Jerry and Gary Whitt, stepbrother, Marvin Ralph, and one nephew Ronnie Whitt. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 6-9 p.m. There will be full military services at the graveside by volunteers of area veterans lodges.
