Homer Jennings Halley

November 27, 1915 — January 20, 2017

Homer Jennings Halley, 101, of Gallipolis, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, January 20, 2017 at his residence. Homer was born on November 27, 1915 in Gallia County, Ohio son of the late Tracy Morgan Halley and Ella G. Brumfield Halley. He was a farmer and a construction worker, and an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was also a member of the Mercerville Baptist Church. He was married on April 2, 1938 to Ruth M. Saunders Halley and she preceded him in death on January 18, 1999. Homer is survived by seven children; Idris Y. Halley of Gallipolis, Brent (Carolyn) Halley of Cardington, Ohio, Linda (Roger) Puckett of Bidwell, Karen (Ron) Wills of Gallipolis, Pam (Jim) Swain and Vickie (Van) Willford both of Crown City, Kent E. (Christine) Halley of Bakersfield, CA; 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren with #16 coming soon. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter Sandra Ella Halley, two brothers, Raymond “Pat” Halley and Lawrence E. Halley, and four sisters, Elva Pinkerman, Hazel Farley, Brookie Sheets and Margaret Bickle. Funeral services will be 1 pm Friday, January 27, 2017 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Warner officiating. His burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Willis Funeral home Friday, from noon until time of the services. His grandsons will be his pallbearers.
