Homer E. Johnson, 80, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his residence. He was born December 16, 1929 in Crown City, son of the late Gilbert and Leah Belle Barry Johnson. Homer was married to Goldie Miller on October 31, 1949 in Wheelersburg, Ohio and she survives him. He was retired from Evans Packing Company and a self employed builder. Homer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gallipolis, Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Goldie Johnson of Gallipolis; a son, Homer “Ed” Johnson Jr. of Gallipolis; a daughter, Debra “Debbie” Mike Duffy of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Teena Bruce Horsley, Brad Johnson, Mandy Duffy, and Andrew Duffy; two great grandchildren, Carson and Pierce Horsley; and a sister, Sally Layne of Gallipolis. Homer was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hildean Chapman. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard and Pastor Matt Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brad Johnson, Andrew Duffy, Mike Duffy, Tim Leach, Mack Layne, and Bruce Horsley. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Hood, Okey Coffee, and Cliff Thornton.
