Hope Marie Hurlow

Hope Marie Hurlow, age 70, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Hope was born on September 14, 1955. She was the daughter of the late Luther and Jana (Dickerson) Amos, of Cheshire, Ohio.

Hope was a member of Ash Street Church and lived a life that truly reflected her name. She was known by all who met her for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and quiet strength. She was a devoted mother and wife. She had a way of making people feel seen and cared for, whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or a simple act of kindness. Hope gave love freely and never expected anything in return.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Samuel L. Hurlow, who was her partner in life and love for 52 years; her sisters, Faith Bradbury, Charity (Rod) Walker, and Gloria (John) Westfall; brothers, Luther (Linda) Amos and John (Melissa) Amos; brother-in-law, James Hurlow; sister-in-law, Betty Rodgers; several special nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces; a very special angel, Amber Simpkins and her daughter, Kate; and her best friend, Kathy McCormick Browning.

She was preceded in death by her son, James L. Hurlow; her brothers, Walter and James Amos; father-in-law, Leeman Hurlow and mother-in-law, Nora Hurlow; brothers-in-law, Phillip Bradbury, Joe, Jackie, Oakey, Dale, Bill, Leonard, and John Hurlow, and sisters-in-law, Wilma Spires and Audrey Woods.

A service to celebrate Hope’s life, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the love she shared so generously, will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Ash Street Church in Middleport, Ohio. At 1:00 p.m., Pastor Mark Morrow will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, in Cheshire, Ohio. Following the burial, a dinner will be served at Ash Street Church for family and friends.
