Jack D. Mink

Jack D. Mink, 76, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 27, 1930 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Earl and Meda Drummond Mink. Jack was married to Eileen Wallis Mink and she preceded him in death on November 2, 2004. Jack was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. He retired from O.V.E.C., Kyger Creek Plant after 37 years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member and board member of the G.A.H.S. Alumni Association, a 2001 G.A.H.S. Hall of Fame Inductee, a member of the Cellar and Cellar Prayer Breakfast Staff, a member of the Gallia County Conservation Club, and a member of Cheshire Siloam #0456 Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jack enjoyed working with young people and teaching his love of fishing. Surviving are a son, Dan Carla Mink and a daughter, Cinda L. Tackett, both of Gallipolis; two granddaughters, Tarin Mink of Bellbrook, Ohio and Carrie Mink and her fianc?, Ed Burris, both of Gallipolis; Cinda’s fianc? Jeff Kittle and his daughter, Christin Kittle of Point Pleasant, WV; one sister, Kathryn Melvin Irwin of Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife Eileen, he was preceded in death by a son, David E. Mink in 1953 and a sister, Frances Green. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Stockton and Pastor Bill Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges. Pallbearers will be Jeff Fulkerson, Larry Green, Ernie Irwin, John Irwin, Randy Green, and Fred Stokes. Honorary pallbearers will be Dana Caldwell, Jimmie Caldwell, Don Mink and Jim Mink.
