James Leo Eutsler II, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 in the St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Jim was born on September 24, 1938 in Hamden, Ohio, son of the late James Leo “Jack” Eutsler, I, and Marcella Day Eutsler. He was a 1956 graduate of Hamden High School and graduated from Rio Grande College. He retired from Shell Chemical Company where he was the Safety Manager. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of the Gallipolis Fire Department for 32 years, serving as Chief for six years wearing badge number FD 601. He was also a lifetime member of the Gallipolis Elks Lodge # 107 and Morning Dawn Lodge #7 Masonic Lodge. Jim enjoyed doing things for others, spending time swinging on his porch, and being with his family and fire department family. Jim was married to Harla Jean Sanders Eutsler on November 5, 1960 in Chillicothe, Ohio and she survives him along with two sons, Greg (Joy) Eutsler of Forest, Virginia and Jerry (Dianne) Eutsler of Gallipolis, four grandchildren, Erika Eutsler Myers of Smithers, West Virginia, Bronson Eutsler of Gallipolis, Jack Eutsler of Forest, Virginia, and Brock Eutsler of Gallipolis, three great grandchildren, Kayden Hunter Myers, Olivia Macyn Eutsler, and Maci Renee Jarrett; Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Lea (Glenn) Phelps of Southern Pines, NC, Robert Thomas (Diana) Sanders of Gallipolis, Cheryl Lynn (Norm) Gunderson of Clifton, NY, Harland Brent (Diana) Sanders of Fayetteville, NC, and Larry Dean (Jill) Sanders of Neola, Iowa and several nieces and nephews; a special hunting buddy Blake Woods of Gallipolis. Jim was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Jean in infancy in 1971 and by a sister Carol Jean Eutsler in infancy. Services will be 11:00 a.m on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church with Bob Powell, Bob Hood and David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Willis Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5-8:00 pm with a Fireman’s service at 7:00 pm. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Bronson Eutsler, Jack Eutsler, and Brock Eutsler, firemen, Jeremy O’Dell, Jim Johnson, Mike Null, Keith Elliott, and hunting buddy Blake. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jim’s memory to the Gallipolis Volunteer Fire Department, 2018 Chestnut Street, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
