James L. “Jim” Mink, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family. Born on April 14, 1936 in Gallia County, Ohio, Jim was the son of the late Estell G. Mink and Opal Riggs Mink. On December 10, 1955, Jim married Anna L. Luckado Mink, who survives him in Gallipolis. Jim and Anna recently celebrated 63 years of marriage on December 10, 2018. Jim Mink was a successful, revered, business man, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Anyone who knew him knew his love of cars. In 1959, he established JIM MINK AUTO SALES, followed by JIM MINK CHEVROLET OLDS in 1983 and EASTERN AUTO SALES in 2002. Beating all the odds, Jim was a self made man and a pinnacle of his community, creating jobs and industry for his beloved hometown. Jim was a member of The Ohio Dealers Association, and The Elks Lodge #107. He was honored in July 1986 by the City Council of Huntington, WV and was given the key to the city. In 1987, he won the Chevrolet Award for #1 sales by Cincinnati Branch and he was also honored as a prestigious Kentucky Colonel. Jim is survived by his wife, Anna Mink; daughters, Cheryl Mink Caudill of Columbus, Ohio, Jamey (William) Eachus of Gallipolis, Ohio and Teresa Mink (Faustino) Salcedo of Miami, Florida; grandchildren, Craig (Tressa) Kingery, Kenneth (Fallon) Caudill, Colby Caudill, Eric Harrison, and Ana Sophia Salcedo; great grandchildren, Julian Kingery, Ethan Kingery, and Clarke Caudill; brother, Don (Marjorie) Mink of Bidwell, Ohio; and sister, Carol (Charles) Gaston of Columbus, Ohio In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Chloris Price. The funeral service for Jim Mink will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Rife Cemetery.
