James R. Simms, Sr., 86, of Bidwell, Ohio passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at his home. He was born on November 12, 1928 in Meigs County, Ohio, son of the late Stanley and Mary Florence Taylor Simms. Jim retired from AEP with forty-two years of service. He was a member of Good News Baptist Church, an U.S. Army Korean Conflict veteran, and a 1947 graduate of G.A.H.S. where he is a member of its Hall of Fame. Jim enjoyed his family, horses and his dogs. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Barker Simms of Bidwell, one son James R. (Beverly) Simms, Jr. of Bidwell, two daughters Elizabeth (Bill) Harless of Wilkesville, Diana (Jeff) Bonecutter of Bidwell, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; one sister Jane (John) Milhoan of Gallipolis, and one brother Jay (Lois) Simms of Patriot. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Bob, Bill and Jack Simms and by one sister Charlotte Irion. Services will be 11 am Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens (Chapel of Hope) with Pastor Eric Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
