James A. “Cotton” Taylor, 59, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Holzer Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1956 in Marion, Virginia, son of the late Carl Allen Taylor and Louise Crewey Taylor Thompson, who survives him. Cotton was a Master Electrician, a Master Plumber and a Class A contractor. He was a union electrician and member of IBEW Local #0934 in Kingsport, Tennessee. He worked at Kyger Creek Power Plant. He hauled Amish workers. Cotton taught OSHA classes, he had a Bachelor’s degree from Tuscan University in Tennessee and a Master’s degree. He was of the Catholic faith. Surviving are a son, Chase A. Taylor of Gallipolis; his mother, Louise Thompson of Marion, Virginia; a sister, Carolyn (James) Pugh of Bristol, Tennessee; his former wife, Carmelina Taylor of Abingdon, Virginia and a niece, Erin (Matthew) France of North Carolina. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley Taylor and Mitchell Taylor. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his residence. Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
