Jane Ann Champer Phillips, 74, of Aurora, IL, formerly of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care Facility in Naperville, IL. Jane Ann was born on July 27, 1942 in Gallipolis, Ohio, daughter of the R. Foster and Doris Irene Mayberry Champer. She was a retired school teacher having worked in the Columbus City Schools, Gallipolis City and Gallia County Local School Systems and Mason County West Virginia Wahama High School. Recently she was the owner operator of Knowledge Navigator, a tutoring education company in Aurora, IL. Jane Ann was a member Eastern Star, White Shrine, The National Education Association, and the Mason County Teacher’s Association. She was also a past member of First Baptist Church and attended Christ Community Church in St. Charles, IL. Jane Ann was married to David L. Phillips and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her children sons, Jeff (Mandy) Phillips of Gallipolis and Mark Phillips of Aurora, IL, her daughter, Samantha Phillips of Aurora, IL; one grandson, T.J. Phillips of Gallipolis, OH. Jane Ann is also survived by a sister, Penny (Randle) Simpson of Gallipolis, OH and a brother-in-law, Robert Carder of Dayton, OH. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, John and Paul Champer, and by a sister Mary Belle Carder. A celebration of Jane Ann’s life will be 6 pm Friday, August 26, 2016 at Willis Funeral Home. It is requested that bright and colorful clothing be worn to celebrate her life. Funeral service will be held 10 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Elizabeth Chapel Church on Third and Locust Street in Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Al Moir officiating.
