Jessica Dawn Shriver, 37, of Vinton, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 at Ohio State Hospital East in Columbus, Ohio. Jessica was born on September 23, 1987 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to her loving parents, Bryan and Robin Shriver, who survive her in Vinton, Ohio.
Jessica had a light about her that she shared freely with everyone she met. Her soul was beautifully wild, and her heart loyal and compassionate. She loved her family, friends, and sweet little dog, Sophie, fiercely. Jessica found joy in caring for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her siblings, foster siblings, and nieces and nephews, who all adored her. She was a fan of classic Disney and collected memorabilia from her favorite movies: The Little Mermaid, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Harry Potter. She enjoyed building her Logo collection and playing board games. However, her favorite activity was sitting poolside, soaking in the sun, and listening to the people she loved as they all enjoyed a warm summer day.
Jessica was a graduate of River Valley High School in 2005, where she never missed the opportunity to go to a dance. Her smile was known by many a customer whom she had waited on during her time as a server at several local restaurants. She was beautiful, loving, gracious, hardworking, and stubborn in all the best ways. There are no words that could fully describe how much she will be missed; but the light Jessica shone into the world around her will forever be carried in the hearts of her family and friends.
Along with her parents (whom she would have also called her best friends), Jessica is survived by brothers, Jason Matthew "Matt" (Anna) Shriver of Marysville, Ohio, Dameion Shriver, Joseph Shriver, and Derrick Shriver and sisters, Nakeisha Shriver, Emily Shriver, Paisley Shriver, and Adora Michelle Ohlinger (Eric Snyder). She is also survived by nieces, Lenna Shriver and Viera Shriver; nephews, Ronan Shriver, Augustus Ohlinger, and Sebastian Snyder; and uncles, Jason Marcum and Jason (Sherri) Shriver, as well as chosen family, Aiden Furguson, Landon Mollette, Bonnie Newsome, Aysha Clever, and Philip Carpenter, whom she loved like her own.
Jessica was preceded in death by her son, Liam Oliver Shriver, whom she can finally hold once again, and by her grandparents, Benita Fay Kelly, Donald Marcum, Howard Shriver, and Almeda Shriver.
The funeral service for Jessica will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Hess officiating. Her burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
