Jewell Marie (Wilson) Miller, 95, of Patriot Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis, after a sudden illness. She was born July 14, 1920 in Wayne County, West Virginia to Sidney and Susie (Pauley) Wilson. After her mother’s passing in 1932, Jewell became, and remained throughout her life, a mother figure to her siblings Helen, William (Bill), and Gladys. She remained close to her childhood friend Lenore Perry throughout her life. She married Cecil Claude Miller on September 22, 1939 at McDaniel Crossroads in Patriot, Ohio. Jewell worked at the original Holzer Hospital before obtaining her LPN license and working at Gallipolis Developmental Center until her retirement. She was a devoted member of McDaniel Crossroads Pentecostal Church for 77 years where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, served on the Church Board, and was active in numerous other activities. She was dearly loved by her church family and was honored for her service, her faith, kindness, and her Godly example. She was known to always put the well-being of others before herself. She enjoyed her family very much, gardening, and reading. She enjoyed her nursing career and in her last years very much enjoyed interacting with children as the Bible School nurse and bandaging up boo-boos. She regularly gave to her church and worthy charities such as veterans groups and Operation Smile. Even in her last days she showed concern for others and quiet humor. She is survived by daughters Carolyn Sue (Don) Riddle of Washington, West Virginia, Claudine (Glenn) Culp of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Shirley Ann (Robert) Hill of Patriot, Ohio, and Anita Jane Madden (Robert) Leach of Parkersburg, West Virginia.
