Gallipolis

Jo Ann Pierotti Hannan, 86, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Abbyshire Place Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 29, 1940, in Gallipolis, Jo Ann was the daughter of the late Frank Pierotti and Virgie Crews Pierotti. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Pierotti and John Pierotti, and her niece, Carol Taylor Gleason.

Jo Ann is survived by her sister, Rose Pierotti Walls (Buck Walls) of Gallipolis, and her four children: Kim Beaver Phillips (Jerry Phillips) of Gallipolis; Steve Russell (Kelly Russell) of Circleville, Ohio; Vicki Mash (Scott Mash, Sr.) of Columbus, Ohio; and Danise Davies (Steve Davies) of Athens, Ohio. She was a devoted grandmother to 14 grandchildren: Dean Beaver (Kelly), Brad Beaver (Natalie), Brandi Beaver Guinther (Guy), Drake Phillips, Zach Russell (Dana), Chad Russell (Taylor), Melea Russell Ramsey (Josh), Heather (Tyler) Mosser, Erica Tope (Tom Greene), Kruize Wandling, Alison (Broc) Rocchi, Scott Mash, Jr., McGuiness Davies, and Malley Davies. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews, Robert Coder, Kathy Coder, John Pierotti Jr., and Christine Pierotti.

Jo Ann had a wonderfully generous heart and expressed her love by caring for and feeding others. One of the first questions she would ask whenever someone came to see her was, “Are you hungry?” For Jo Ann, food was more than a meal; it was a way to welcome people and comfort them. Her desire to ensure that no one went hungry extended well beyond her own family and home. She was a faithful supporter of and generous donor to the Cheshire Baptist Church Food Pantry. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and crocheting. As a member of a local crocheting group, Jo Ann devotedly made many hats for elementary school children, another reflection of her kindness and concern for others.

She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. A funeral service celebrating Jo Ann’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at St. Louis Catholic Church, with Father Tom Hamm, Jr., officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Addison-Reynolds Cemetery.

Jo Ann’s family extends its deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Abbyshire Place for the exceptional compassion, kindness, and loving care they provided to their mother. The comfort, dignity, and support shown to Jo Ann and to her family will always be remembered and sincerely appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jo Ann’s memory to the Cheshire Baptist Church Food Pantry - a fitting tribute to a woman whose big heart was always focused on feeding and caring for others.
