John R. Kerr, 72, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1934 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Irvin and Lilly Kerr. John graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army for 3 years in Germany. He married Mary “Kay” Frost on October 2, 1966 and she survives him. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Gallipolis Boat Club since 1967. John enjoyed boating, fishing and NASCAR. Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Mary “Kay” Kerr of Gallipolis; three children, John I. Kerr and Lee Amanda Kerr, both of Gallipolis and Lori Tony Waugh of Crown City; a son-in-law, Donald Bush of Rio Grande; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothy Bazell of Ironton and Helen Phillips of Columbus; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Ann Bush in 2000 and brothers-in-law, Bill Bazell and Ralph Phillips. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church in Rio Grande with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
