John N. Notter Sr.

John N. Notter, Sr., 72, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at his residence. He was born January 4, 1943 in Northup, Ohio, son of the late Cecil H. and Mary Clark Notter. John was married to Erma Ann Strait on August 11, 1962 and she survives him. He was a graduate of Southwestern High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. John was a minister, being a retired pastor of Mt. Calvary Church of God, Lancaster, Ohio, an auctioneer and an industrial equipment salesman. Surviving are his wife, Erma Ann Notter of Columbus; three sons, John N. (Melodie) Notter Jr. of Centerburg, Ohio, Keith V. (Brenda) Notter of Columbus, and Ronnie H. (Mountain) Notter of Winchester, Virginia; 8 grandchildren, Tabatha Jimenez, Isaiah Notter, Caleb Notter, Kara Notter Mathews, Jessica Notter, John Cross Notter, Jasmine Notter, Noah Notter; 4 great grandchildren, Benjamin Jimenez, Ramiah Jimenez, Nehemiah Notter, Andrew Mathews; a sister, June (Ronnie) Halley of Gallipolis; a brother-in-law, Harlis Sheets of Kettering, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Gabriel Notter, and a sister, Rosemary Notter Sheets. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015.
